    Yeovil Pride announces virtual Pride event for 2020

    With Covid-19 cancelling large group events this year Yeovil Pride has organised a group of micro events to support the LGBT+ community Monday, 3rd August 2020 – With the global coronavirus pandemic resulting in large group events having to be cancelled this summer including the annual Yeovil Pride event, the Yeovil Pride committee has created a series of micro events both virtual and in person to take place this Saturday, 8 August. Pride is more important than ever, as many in our community are confined to staying at home still in the midst of the pandemic.     Yeovil Pride becomes charity in time for 2020 parade

    Organisation demonstrates its ongoing commitment to Yeovil and its LGBT+ community Yeovil Pride is excited to announce that it has been registered as a charity by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, further demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to Yeovil and its LGBT+ community. The application was approved in late February and allows Yeovil Pride to progress with the next step in its journey to further support LGBT+ people in and around the south Somerset town.     We have a new logo

    As a way to mark LGBT+ History Month, we’re delighted to share with you our new logo that will represent Yeovil Pride. It gives the rainbow – a symbol long associated with Pride movements thanks to Gilbert Baker’s iconic design in San Francisco – a ‘Yeovil’ makeover referencing the towns coat of arms creating a new, unique colour scheme we’re proud of, and hope the towns LGBT+ community are proud of too. The colour scheme, and rainbow will be referenced in Yeovil Pride’s designs going forward, creating a strong visual that stands out and something that can be adaptable going forward.     Our 2020 AGM

    Join the Board of Yeovil Pride as we report back on our achievements this year, and set out our vision for 2020’s celebration. We’re gathering at The Manor Hotel in Yeovil on 20th January 2020 at 6:30pm, and we’d love for you to come along. We’ve already announced our 2020 Pride event date as the 8th August, but there is a lot of work to be done before then – and we can’t do it alone.     We are pleased to announce the times and dates of our two drop-in sessions at The Manor Hotel. Come and meet some of the people behind Yeovil Pride – whether you want to give us feedback, get involved or lend us your support, we’d love to see you there. One session is on a weekday evening, the other is at the weekend during the day. We hope that these options will allow as many people as possible to attend that wish to.     First Ever Yeovil Pride

    LGBT+ community to march through town to mark 50 years of the modern Pride movement Yeovil’s LGBT+ community is set to celebrate its first ever Pride this Saturday by holding a march through the town centre to mark 50 years since the Stonewall Uprising: the birth of the modern Pride movement. The march will start from Petters Way Car Park before proceeding along Hendford, the High Street and Silver Street, culminating in a community picnic in St John’s Churchyard.     Finding funds for Yeovil Pride

    Can you believe it is 2019 and Yeovil has never had a Pride?! Neither could we! So we’re hoping to change that – on Saturday, 31 August 2019 Yeovil will have its first ever Pride, but if we’re going to do it, we need your support in order to make it happen! At our inaugural meeting, Yeovil Pride was officially formed as a not-for-profit organisation with the aim to: organise and facilitate an annual Yeovil Pride celebration within the town, and to encourage other organisations, businesses and residents to stand up for LGBT+ equality.
